DAILY SCHEDULE

  • 7:30   Children begin to arrive, child’s choice of activity
  • 8:45   Wash hands, snack
  • 9:15   Bathroom break
  • 9:30   Outdoor time (weather permitting, if not- “circle time” games, songs, sharing)
  • 11:00 Wash hands
  • 11:30 Lunch
  • 12:30 Story time
  • 1:00   Nap or quiet time
  • 3:00   Wash hands,
  • 3:15   snack, bathroom break/diapering
  • 4:00   Group games (in or outside)
  • 5:00   Free-play, children begin to leave
  • 5:30   End of day- tidy, transition to home

YOUNG TODDLER ACTIVITIES

Indoors: Push and pull  or ride-on toys, sand and snow play, various size balls (rolling, kicking, catch/throw), walks around the neighborhood.

Outdoors:  Reading large and small books with lots of pictures, stacking and knocking down, emptying and filling , blocks, sorting (shapes, colors, texture), scribbling on paper or scribble pad.

Circle time: circle time is typically a gathering time to share poems, songs, stories and action games. Numeracy and music activities can also be incorporated into circle time. Young children can participate for a little while and since their attention span is much shorter they might be engaged in other ways or thye can learn watching older children participate in more advanced activities.

  • Peek-a-boo games or “Knock- Knock” game (peaking through paper door flaps to find some pictures)
  • Hiding toys
  • Peep tube
  • Actions songs and rhymes
  • Teaching body part names
  • Naming objects

  • Stacking rings
  • Rolling balls of different sizes (soft and hard plastic)
  • Catching and throwing bean bags
  • Throwing bean bags into an empty basket

Most of December went by visiting library, Strong Start program and getting over the cold season. We did some Christmas crafts, ginger bread cookie decorations and other Christmas activities, therefore January will be busy month
